Finally Released! PrayTime Reminder VSCode Extension – My First Open Source Project

Hey guys!
Today, I'm beyond excited, haha! I finally launched my very first open-source project for the world to see! 🎉 The name of the game is PrayTime Reminder — a super handy extension for Visual Studio Code that I created especially for all you Muslim developers out there, so you never miss a prayer time while coding away!
As a programmer myself, I totally get how it feels to be on fire coding, and then suddenly realize, whoops... I missed the adzan because the mosque is far and I often end up late, lol. That's how the idea for this extension came to life. And the cherry on top? This is my first time publishing an extension on the VSCode Marketplace! Woohoo!
What is PrayTime Reminder?
So, what exactly is this PrayTime Reminder? It's an extension that gives you prayer time reminders right inside VSCode! You can stay laser-focused on your work while still keeping your spiritual duties in check. The moment you open VSCode, the extension kicks into gear. You’ll see a countdown to the next prayer time at the bottom corner, get notifications before the adzan, and... you can even hear the adzan right in your editor! Get ready, guys!
Simple. Lightweight. And, InsyaAllah, beneficial.
Exciting Features You Can Try Out!
Automatic Location Detection
No need to fuss with complicated setups! Your location is detected automatically! If it fails? No worries, the extension will default to Jakarta prayer times. Easy peasy, right?
Daily Prayer Schedule
Check out the complete schedule for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha all from a webview in VSCode. It’s clean, simple, and super chill! Perfect for you busy bees out there, haha.
Dynamic Islamic Background & Quotes
The visual changes every minute! You’ll see beautiful Islamic backgrounds and inspiring quotes that will soothe your heart and mind. It’s the perfect way to boost your motivation while working, am I right?
Automatic Notifications
Five minutes before the adzan, a reminder notification pops up. When it's time, another popup appears along with a play button for the adzan from Makkah. Just perfect for getting ready!
Countdown in the Status Bar
Easily see the next prayer time and countdown directly in the status bar. It updates automatically — so you can just focus on your work, guys!

Why Is This Special to Me?
This is my first open-source project that I’ve really put out there for everyone! I’ve learned so much — from creating the extension, testing, publishing to the Marketplace, to diving into the technical stuff that makes your heart race but is also super fun!
Most importantly, I’m thrilled to create something that benefits so many people. And I believe that our passion for creating will grow even stronger when we thrive together in our community. Let’s pump up that creative spirit together!
